Friday 11th Jan – Double Trouble: Friendly FireBand and Paradimes
Having supported the likes of Augustus Pablo and Dawn Penn The Friendly Fire band have taken the Birmingham reggae sound round the world and now they return home to headline the Hare and Hounds. They will be joined by Lion Art and Tomlin Mystic, with support coming from Leicester’s original reggae/ska band, the Paradimes, featuring members of the Specials. Also joining them will be reggae/dancehall/dubstep/dub DJ Flo (Go with the Flo!)
Fri 18th Jan – Greg Bird Remix E.P Launch.
Local boy and Leftfoot favourite Greg Bird has teamed up with Hare and Hounds regulars This is Tmrw to celebrate the release of the his Black Tableaux remix EP. After its initial release through ‘You Need Speech Fewapy Records’ a selection of artists, including Birmingham’s Arc Vel, have come together to put their own stamp on the E.P with exciting results … On the night you can expect a special live performance from Greg Bird as well as a few other surprises along the way.
Sat 19th Jan – A lover from outer Space with Ander Weatherall & Sean Johnston
Taking its title from an A.R. Kane’s track of the same name, A Love from Outer Space was the vision of Andrew Weatherall and Sean Johnston (Hardway Bros) that took shape in 2010.The manifesto of their night, A Love From Outer Space is to never knowingly exceed 122bpm. Andrew describes the night as “an oasis of slowness in a world of increasing velocity”. The last time we welcomed A Love From Outer Space was one of the best parties of the year, so we’re really excited to be welcoming the boys back to The Hare and Hounds.
Sat 26th Jan – The Penguin Club Vintage Club Night
Birmingham’s best vintage Club night returns to the Hare and Hounds with another amazing line up which sees Roddy Radiation and the Skabilly Rebels, founded by some of the original members of The Specials taking to the stage. So if you’re in to 50’s and 60’s , Rock n Roll , Blues , Burlesque and all things vintage and like to dress to impress then this is the night for you.
Sun 27th Jan – Nell Bryden
Following the release of her second album, ‘Shake the Tree’, earlier this year, Nell has picked up regular Radio 2 rotation, as well slots at Bestival, Guilfest and BBC Proms in the Park. Influenced by her time spent in New Orleans, Nell’s music is a graceful amalgamation of blues, country, jazz and folk, which has garnered praise from all corners of the globe.
