DJ Yoda - Q&A
Jam Hott bring the mighty DJ Yoda back to the Hare & Hounds on 26th September. We caught up with the man himself for a quick chat to find out more…
Who are your biggest DJing inspirations?
I guess hip-hop DJs that I grew up listening to – some more well-known like Jazzy Jeff, and then a lot of more obscure mixtape DJs like Ron G, Doo Wop and Spinbad. But I’m really inspired by DJs from across all the other genres too.
Favourite tune to get the party started?
Classic hip-hop break – The 900 Number. No-one knows it by name, but everyone knows it when it comes on.

And a tune to save the dancefloor?
Every DJ knows that your emergency panic song is anything by Michael Jackson.
Do you have an ultimate artist to work with?
I did – and I kind of made it happen with both my albums “The Amazing Adventures” and “Chop Suey”! Now I’m going through a phase of working with younger, more unknown artists.
You’ve played all over the world, number one country to DJ?
Japan! For the food!
What’s next for DJ Yoda?
I have a new band – Breakfast of Champions – we’re just finishing up our album. Sounds kind of like The Roots if they were from London, Manchester and Portsmouth!
Any surprises in store for the Hare & Hounds on the 26th?
Always! Expect the unexpected…
