Crocodiles play Hare & Hounds this Friday!

Crocodiles represent everything you love about life-affirming rock’n’roll: they bring light out of darkness; they match reckless noise with the most beautiful melodies; they catch you off guard whilst sounding like the most perfect kind of right for the right here, right now.

Charles and Brandon have been making music together since they were 18. They met in the dirty glow of San Diego sun and now split their lives between New York City and London. Their music has grown up over the last decade just as they have. New blood in the form of producer Sune Rose Wagner of Raveonettes fame oversaw this recent endeavor and it was a quick, natural Los Angeles creation. Duncan Mills mixed for the third time, to maintain their catalogue lifeline.

Latest album Crimes Of Passion is certainly the most fully realised Crocodiles album to date. These songs bookmark an album bursting with sounds inspired by the likes of the Soft Boys, Street Hassle era Lou Reed, the Notorious Byrd Brothers, the Jackson 5 and even Glenn Branca. It is a sadly accepted impression that life is cooler in song, on screen, in art, or in poetry, but it is far superior when the creative process is fed back into real life and an album like Crimes Of Passion is borne.

CROCODILES PLAY HARE & HOUNDS BIRMINGHAM ON FRI 10TH OCTOBER 2014, WITH SUPPORT FROM LUNA KISS & PARADISE CIRCUS. TICKETS AVAILABLE HERE.

Introducing Amp Fiddler

On Saturday 1st November Leftfoot bring Amp Fiddler to the Hare & Hounds for his first Birmingham show in nearly ten years.

Based in Detroit, Amp Fiddler has shared stages and studios with everyone from Prince and George Clinton to Primal Scream and Moodyman. He also played a pivotal role in bringing Slum Village to global attention, and was a friend and collaborator with the late J Dilla.

As a teen, Amp received his big break when Bernie Worrell, the Parliament/Funkadelic keyboardist, passed a tape of his playing to George Clinton. Bernie was leaving the mothership, and Amp ended up replacing him, touring with Clinton and the P-Funk mob for more than a decade.

He signed to Elektra as Mr. Fiddler and released the album “With Respect”, recorded with his brother in 1990, before spending much of the following decade working in the background on a number of important records.

Following the “Basementality” and “Love & War” EPs at the start of the new millennium, 2004 saw the release of Amp Fiddler’s debut solo album “Waltz Of A Ghetto Fly”, which was met with universal critical acclaim.

2006’s “Afrostrut” proved to be the perfect follow-up, and set the benchmark for modern day soul music. His next project saw Amp teaming up with the legendary Sly & Robbie for an album titled “Inspiration Information”, the first in Strut Records’ collaboration-driven series.

After taking a hiatus from music due to personal reasons, Amp Fiddler returned in January 2014 with the release of “Basementality 2”, an EP every bit as soulful and funky as his previous albums.

This is a show not be missed. Tickets are onsale now at £15 each and you can grab yours here.

Seven Davis Jr & Kutmah to Play the H&H

Leftfoot teams up with Under The Counter to bring Seven Davis Jr and Kutmah, two of the fastest rising names in electronic music today, to the Hare & Hounds on Friday 24th October.

A trained gospel vocalist, Seven Davis Jr rejected several major record label offers at a young age and instead cut his teeth behind the scenes writing, recording and anonymously assisting various other artists with their own careers. Raised on a diet of Prince, Michael Jackson and Stevie Wonder before discovering house music in his early adult years – influences that shine through in his own productions – Seven Davis Jr made his debut in 2012 on Brownswood Recordings, as part of the Kutmah presents Worldwide Family Vol. 2 compilation, and in the two years since has become one of the hottest artists in the game.

Born in Brighton but moving to California at the age of twelve, Kutmah made a name for himself on the LA scene surrounding the renowned Low End Theory club night and Brainfeeder record label. Deported back to the UK without warning in 2010 and separated from his record collection, Kutmah set about working on the new EP “Our Mannequin”, which recently came out as a highly limited pressing on Ninja Tune. His first original material since 2006, Kutmah has built his reputation on quality, attention to detail and intricacy. A king amongst cratediggers, Kutmah has been responsible for a string of world class compilations including “The New Error” mix series and the aforementioned “Worldwide Family Vol. 2”.
