New Show: DJ Format & Abdominal

We’re pleased to announce that Freestyle will be brining DJ Format & Abdominal Live back to the H&H on Friday 12th May.

For fourteen years, DJ Format and rapper Abdominal have been entertaining crowds from Toronto to the UK. Now the hip-hop stars are back at it in 2017 with their new album Still Hungry and a 16-date UK tour, which includes a show at London’s legendary venue Electric Ballroom in Camden.

The new album comes off the heels of a wildly successful UK winter tour in 2015 that commemorated ten years since their last performance together in the country. The tour quickly sold out in several cities, which cemented the idea of getting back in the studio to create their first full-length album together. While they both have collaborated on each other’s solo records, Still Hungry marks their first joint album.

The brand new LP boasts the best of what they each bring to the hip-hop community: funky, up-tempo and slick beats, coupled with intelligent, savvy lyrics. The LP also showcases a grittier, harder sound, reflecting the maturity of the two, giving their audience some head-bobbing bangers that could rock any concert hall. The spring tour will welcome back DJ Format & Abdominal into the flourishing hip-hop scene with a bag full of brand new tracks and a longer than ever set list.

Advance £12.50 tickets go on sale this Friday at 9am, you can get hold of yours by clicking here.

This Is Tmrw will be brining Girl Band to the H&H on 22nd January 2017 to play their rescheduled date form last years cancelled show.

H&H Recommends: Mexrrissey at The Town Hall

Morrissey has always been more than just a musician. His songs have chimed with a huge audience raised on rancheras and mariachis.  Now a band made in Mexico City, Mexrrissey, has reinvented the songs of Morrissey and The Smiths: a brass and string led combo from the smallest village with the biggest bleeding heart. The band will be landing at the Town Hall on Sunday 29th January and we highly recommend you get yourselves along. Advance tickets cost just £18, you can get hold of yours by clicking here.

New Show: Happyness

We’re pleased to announce that This Is Tmrw will be brining Happyness to the H&H on Wednesday 26th April.

When Happyness first burst into the public conscience with 2013’s debut single It’s On You, their spirited take on US college rock was as big a surprise as it was an instant hit. The resulting full length, Weird Little Birthday, went on to feature in many of 2014’s End of Year album lists. Worldwide tours, an NME Award, a re-issue on the much-loved labels Moshi Moshi Recordings (Bar/None in US), and millions of Spotify plays later, it is with some anticipation now that the band finally reveal the full details of the follow-up.

Titled “Write In”, released on April 7th through Moshi Moshi Recordings (Bar/None in US) and featuring artwork from the band’s own Jon EE Allan, the record was made in the band’s own studio above a now-abandoned bookshop, then finished and mixed with Adam Lasus at his LA home studio. Ahead of the album release, new single “Falling Down” now has an official video, check it out below;

Josefin Öhrn + The Liberation To Play the H&H

We’re pleased announce that This Is Tmrw will be brining Josefin Öhrn + The Liberation to the H&H on Tuesday 7th March.

In an era in which ‘psychedelia’ can often mean merely a grab-bag of influences from which wah-wah pedals and two-note riffs are dispensed as signifiers and signposts into a realm of easy accessibility as opposed to gateways to another dimension, it can be a rarity to come across a band who are genuinely fixated on creating alternate realities for the listener. Yet this is exactly how Stockholm’s Josefin Öhrn + The Liberation view their incandescent art, and it’s this sensibility that’s led to the kaleidoscopic splendour of their two albums for Rocket Recordings, ‘Horse Dance’ (2015) and ‘Mirage’ (2016). Blending electronic elements and sweeping synth sounds with his signature layered vocals and dreamy instrumentation, the follow up to his Mercury Prizenominated debut Architect won huge praise from the likes of The Guardian, The Sunday Times, Mojo, Uncut and The Quietus.

Having fast-tracked from playing basement venues alone to selling out 900 cap venues within a year, his live show has come along hugely.
