Bank Holiday Weekend at the Hare and Hounds

For the second time in May It’s a bank holiday weekend, and here at the Hare and Hounds we’ve got a a great line up of shows and events to keep you entertained over the entire weekend. You can find out all about them right here…

Friday 24th May

Leftfoot Presents Mr Scruff – Returning to the Hare and Hounds is Leftfoot favourite and Ninja Tune veteran & supreme selector Mr Scruff. Taking over the decks he’ll be serving up a melting pot of Jazz, Soul, Hip-Hop, Funk, Disco, Deep House, Reggae and everything in-between. This is a complete sell out, if you were one of the luck 250 to get tickets your in for one hell of a night. We’ll see you on the dance floor.

Midlands Goth Festival 2013 – The 2013 festival kicks off with a delectable Psychobilly and Horropunk feast featuring Vince Ripper and The Rodent Show with their classic 50/60’s garage Rock’n’Roll. Pussycat & The Dirty Johnsons  and their infectious brand of Punk Rock’n’Roll and finally Dick Venom and The Terrortones pairing rockabilly sleaze with B-Movie looks and Rock’n’Roll Hooks. It all kicks of at 7:30pm and you can get your £8 advanced tickers here. Tickets will be available on the door.

Saturday 25th May

Back Bar Blues Club  – This weeks special guest live band is Maxwell’s Quandri (with Bebe Thomas) with DJ ‘s Dylan Gibbons & Dave Le Moderne playing an eclectic mix of Reggae, Soul & Rhythm and Blues. As always it’s free entry at kicks of at 4pm.

This Feeling – London’s most Rock’n’Roll night out comes to Birmingham and The Hare and Hounds. Playing live on the night is Evil Alien with support from Friday Club. Then after the bands the This Feeling DJs will be taking you through to the early hours. Doors are at 8pm with £3 Advanced tickets available here.

Sunday 26th May

The Besnard Lakes & Sweet Jane – The Besnard Lakes are a six piece progressive rock band from Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Formed by the husband and wife team of Jace Lasek and Olga Goreas. Advanced tickets are £12 and available here. Check out the video for their single ‘Albatross’ below:

Enter The Dragon Bank Holiday Special – Enter The Dragon lands at the Hare and Hounds for en evening of the best upfront house music from some of the cities greats. Inspired by the days of Godskitchen’s Dragon Bar at the Sanctuary, the very best of the resident DJs will be playing house classics from the years of 1996 to 2000. Entry is £5 on the door and it starts at 9:00pm in Venue 2.

Off the Chain – The Local Artist Pop-Up Shop – ‘Off the Chain’ is a brand new pop up event headed by the owner of Ogee Jewellery. Artists from illustrators to graffiti artists, jewellers to textiles, up cyclist to face painters and t-shirt printers will gather to showcase and sell their talent and all their profit goes towards funding their dream. It’s free entry and starts at Midday until 6:00pm.  Providing the soundtrack for the day will be Brian Travers of UB4O and Ben Dunn of Jam Hott.

High Fidelity Bank Holiday Special – High Fidelity returns to our back bar from 9:00pm for a bank holiday special. It’s free entryall night long where they’ll be playing  a selection of Northern Soul, Indie, Disco, Funk & Soul, Big Beat, Breakbeat, Mod, 80s Electronica & Hip Hop.

Monday 27th May

Club Bebop with Steve Ajao Quartet – After a weekend of heavy partying come join us in our back bar for an afternoon of live Jazz and Blues from one of Birmingham’s finest. Steve Ajao will be showcasing original material along with a selection of classics. It all kicks off at 4:30 pm giving you more than enough time to shake the hangover.
