AYL INTRODUCING #2
VICTORIES AT SEA
From: Birmingham
Playing: Saturday 16 November @ All Years Leaving Festival
In the eternally brutal push and pull of genre and fashion in this brittle industry the ability to cross the boundaries and mix and match has always produced some of the most innovative and creative new music. Birmingham, currently deep in its renaissance as a new music hub of indie-poster-boy-pop should be proud of its dark sheep, lurking in the background there are some bands who don’t settle on the simple formula. Victories at Sea are one such band, forming back in 2010 they released their debut EP on the uber chic Static Caravan Records in July this year, bursting with hooks whilst mixing electronica and post punk guitars delivered with intelligent arrangements and brooding wordplay this is a band riding high critically having recently been championed by the likes of the NME, Clash Magazine, VICE and BBC 6music’s Steve Lamacq.
Having previously supported Savages, Editors and Errors amongst others this is their final show of 2013 and how proud we are to have them kick off Saturday of All Years Leaving Festival, expect the bar to be set high and loud from early on.
