New Show: DJ Format & Abdominal Live

We’re delighted to announce that we’ll be brining DJ Format & Abdominal back to the H&H on Tuesday 31st October.

DJ Format and Abdominal just can’t stay away from touring the UK! After another incredibly successful tour earlier this year, the infamous hip hop duo head out once again to showcase their very first full-length album together, ‘Still Hungry’.

‘Still Hungry’ was released in May this year and it saw the guys play live on BBC 6 Music with Lauren Laverne as well as London’s very own Soho Radio. The first single from the album, ‘Behind the Scenes’ was play listed on 6Music and received more than 50 plays on the station. The duo has released several videos to accompany the album and they have clocked up over 150K plays so far. Still Hungry hit the Top 10 in the iTunes Hip Hop Charts as well as hitting #1 in the overall Bandcamp album charts. Check out the video for their latest single ‘Dirt’ below;

Andrew Weatherall This Friday at the H&H

Leftfoot will be teaming up with Dark Corner Disco to bring Andrew Weatherall back to the Hare & Hounds this Friday 14th July.

The swaggering original moody DJ; the pop star producer; bastion of the underground; one-time Balearic figure-head; electronic experimentalist; peerless explorer of the minimal techno sound. All notions that have been bandied about in a bid to pin down Weatherall’s role in music. Yet none of them quite fits the bill. In the dull as ditch-water world of dance music personalities, Andrew Weatherall comes across as a refreshing and involving character. Check out his latest Beats In Space appearance below;

Kings Heath Dining Club This Sunday at the H&H

Street food innovators Digbeth Dining Club and the Hare & Hounds team up once again to bring you July’s installment of Kings Heath Dining Club this Sunday 16th July.

Starting at 11am York Road, just outside the Hare, will play host to 12 of DCC and Birmingham’s finest street food vendors including Handmade Pizza Co,Platinum Pancakes, Homeboys, Bare Bones Churro, English Indian, Low n Slow, Baked In Brick, Fancy Fries, Canoodle, Habanero, Boo-Fes Italian & Smoqued. Accompanying the menu of tasty treats will be a soundtrack provided by a number of DCC and Leftfoot resident DJs throughout the afternoon.

Please note that this Sunday’s edition of Kings Heath Dining Club will see a slight change in the layout of the event. Despite our best efforts to avoid this, recent consultations with local businesses and residents raised a number of concerns including people drinking outside the footprint of the event and making certain businesses feel uncomfortable about the potential for anti social behaviour. This has resulted in the decision to reduce the size of the closure with the new layout going no further than the Relax & Comfort furniture shop, fully fenced all the way around with stewards/security at each end. This combined with the recent increase in street closure costs passed on by BCC will result in a small entry fee of £1.50 for adults (kids still free) with 50p from each payment going to a local Kings Heath charity.

New Show: Yassassin

We’re pleased to announce that This Is Tmrw will be bringing Yassassin to the H&H on Sunday 8th October.

New Show: Jane Weaver

This Is Tmrw & Moseley Folk Festival will be joining forces to bring Jane Weaver back to the H&H on Wednesday 29th November.

Abusing, evading and obliterating 20 years of whimsical pop trends Jane Weavers experience as a truly independent and resilient female experimental songwriter / sound-carrier commands respect and inspiration in equal measures. Dashing through northern pastures unsaddled and un-blinkered Jane’s journey so-far, from teenage Liverpudlian shoe-gazer to conceptual-pop mistress, has seen her graze with pocket-punk, Synth-pop, acid folk, indie-schmindie, dark-ambient drones, Hollywood soundtracks and girl-group psych. Joey Landreth Live at the H&H

We’re pleased to announce that Joey Landreth will be playing at the H&H on Thursday 20th july.

Joey first gained prominence with his kith and kin in The Bros and is described by BBC’s Bob Harris as “Absolutely brilliant”. The youngest brother, Joey, has been a guitarist since he was big enough to hold an instrument and as an itinerant side man in his teens and early twenties he grew up on the road, playing music across genres from gospel to country and developing a playing style that leaves people gawping in open mouthed disbelief. With the rare ability to be at both vulnerable and open, yet seriously blow audiences away with his musical proficiency, great things are promised.
