New Show: The Travelling Band

We’re pleased to announce that Birmingham Promoters will be bringing The Travelling Band to the H&H on Thursday 23rd November.

Manchester’s The Travelling Band have announced their forthcoming album, SAILS, due 25th August 2017 via Sideways Saloon Records/Kartel. The first taste of SAILS comes in the shape of the single, ‘Into The Water, which serves as an introduction to a new, more expansive approach from the Manchester five-piece. Focused around the songwriting talents and production skills of Jo Dudderidge and Adam Gorman and the rhythmic driving force of enigmatic drummer Nick Vaal, The Travelling Band have been quietly honing what Marc Riley described as “Mancunian Americana”. The resulting album mines a rich seam of influences, with key album track ‘Last Night I Dreamt (of Killing You)’ and the grungy ‘Wasted Eyes’ highlighting the band’s love of American indie rock, but still with that Mancunian twist nodding to Elbow and I Am Kloot. ‘Mopping Forwards’ draws on their time spent in East Nashville and the almost Satie-like melancholic ballad ‘Loser’ belies the darker turn that Jo and Adam’s lyrics have taken. New Show: Joe Fox

We’re pleased to announce that Birmingham Promoters will be bringing Joe Fox to the H&H on Thursday 12th October.

Joe Fox, whose debut Blue Flowers EP Acoustic Alley Sessions introduced the young Londoner as one of the most singular of British talents, drops his first single proper ‘What’s The Word’, impact date Sept 8. The track was produced by Leon Michels, co-founder of the Truth & Soul production team/record label, and collaborator with The Black Keys‘ Dan Auerbach in their band The Arcs. Mixed by Tom Elmhirst (Adele, David Bowie, Amy Winehouse) ‘What’s The Word’ finds Joe extending his musical reach to create a fuller, brass inflected, beat driven sound, exuding a loose limbed swagger, which hints at the direction his debut album is headed.

Acoustic Alley Sessions was a collection of raw, soulful, songs, that illustrated why A$AP Rocky chose Joe to co-write 5 songs on his #1 album At.Long.Last.A$AP, following a chance meeting on the streets of Soho. Joe’s strength as a songwriter lies in a total disregard for current trends and presents a special voice, sounding like no other in today’s musical landscape. A student of every great songwriter from the Beatles to Bob Marley, ‘What’s The Word’, and the new songs he has been recording for his debut album, coupled with his intimate and powerful live performances, present Joe Fox as a truly magnetic performer, and a writer and artist of unique talent.
