New Show: Cloud Nothings

We’re pleased to announce that This Is Tmrw will be bringing Cloud Nothings back to the H&H on Wednesday 22nd March.

Cloud Nothings was founded in a Cleveland basement, the one-man recording project of Dylan Baldi, an unassuming, then 18-year-old student of song with a breathtaking ear for melody. Prolific from the start, Baldi’s early work was rough but immediate: crudely recorded, spring-loaded spasms of Buzzcocks-informed pop that quickly found an online following among the lo-fi-inclined. When an opportunity presented itself to open a small show in Brooklyn, Baldi abandoned a still-in-progress final project to be there. The gamble paid off — he’s been touring ever since, using every available break to write and record more. The band will be landing at the H&H in support of their fourth full length offering ‘Life Without Sound’, you can check out the first single ‘Modern Act’ from the record below;

New Show: Declan Mckenna

We’re pleased to announce that This Is Tmrw will be brining Declan Mckenna to the H&H on Wednesday 25th January.

The singer/songwriter first emerged in 2014 with the shimmering, politically charged single “Brazil.” The teenaged Hertfordshire native only had a handful of self-released tracks to his name, having uploaded them to his Bandcamp page. With an attitude recalling the Libertines and Jamie T., McKenna blended bright indie pop with textural lo-fi. As “Brazil” gained traction throughout 2015, McKenna’s star began to rise, and that summer he took home the Glastonbury Festival’s coveted Emerging Talent prize. Check out the performance of his latest single ‘Isombard’ on Jools Holland below:

Soil & "Pimp" Sessions Live at the H&H This Friday

This Friday 14th October Leftfoot and Mostly Jazz Funk & Soul Festival will be joining forces to bring Japan’s Soil & “Pimp” Sessions to the H&H.

The band were born out of Tokyo’s club scene back in 2001, when Shacho and Tabu Zombie started including live jam sessions in DJ sets. Gradually the other members were invited, the band’s line-up was finalised and the DJ sets dropped. The band’s live sets started to create a buzz  and they quickly gained a reputation  as one of the most energetic live performers on the scene, which led to the coining of the term “death jazz” to describe their music. Backbeat Sound System at the H&H

World Unlimited will be bringing Backbeat Sound System to the H&H on Monday 17th October.

Backbeat Soundsystem are a different beast. In a UK reggae scene that has long eschewed bands in favor of sound systems, Backbeat brings 8 musicians to the stage. While much of the current scene is centered in London and a few other major markets, BBSS hail from far west Cornwall.And, while many of  their peers are slavish in their attempt to recreate an authentic Jamaican-leaning sound, Backbeat Soundsystem are not afraid to go in totally different directions, pulling in influences from all across the music spectrum, to create their vision of modern reggae. With all of this, Backbeat stands out in the current scene –pushing the envelope in their studio productions and pumping up crowds in their live set. Ultimate Painting Tomorrow Night at the H&H

This Is Tmrw bring Ultimate Painting to the Hare & Hounds tomorrow night.

The U.K. duo Ultimate Painting formed when Jack Cooper’s band Mazes were on tour opening for James Hoare’s group Veronica Falls in 2013. The two guitarists decided to team up and create music that was unsullied by any digital processes. After exchanging demos and making one failed attempt at recording, they began working on tape machines set up in Hoare’s flat. The duo spent a few months getting their Velvet Underground and classic ’60s and ’70s pop-inspired sound together, with Hoare on bass and Cooper on drums, and both singing and playing guitar. The first recorded song, “Ultimate Painting,” gave them their name.

Dusk is their third album, a ten song set that expands the group’s sound from their self-titled debut and their critically acclaimed sophomore effort Green Lanes, about whose tunes Pitchfork raved their “deceptively simple interplay slowly worms into your synapses.” Dusk heads along the same path, albeit in a slightly different direction, forging to new territory by heading inward.
