New Show: Moon Duo

We’re pleased to announce that This Is Tmrw bring Moon Duo back to the Hare & Hounds on Friday 22nd July.

Formed in San Francisco in 2009 by Wooden Shijps guitarist Ripley Johnson and Sanae Yamada, Moon Duo’s first two critically acclaimed EPs, Killing Time (2009) and Escape (2010), fused the futuristic pylon hum and transistor reverb of Suicide or Silver Apples with the heat-haze fuzz of American rock ‘n’ roll to create tracks of blistering, 12-cylinder space rock. 9Bach to play the H&H on Wednesday 4th May

Birmingham Promoters  bring 9Bach to the H&H on Wednesday 4th May in support of their second full length album on Real World Records.

9Bach made their name by taking traditional Welsh folk songs and recasting them onto a spectral and haunting sound canvas. Their 2014 album Tincian was the worthy winner of the coveted Best Album in the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards 2015.

Tincian is an evocative and emotional hybrid of the folk tradition and contemporary influences. Building on a deepened, almost ambient sound-picture, the songs take you into the landscape of 9Bach’s home environment of Gerlan, North Wales and the emotions that evokes.

Ethereal female vocals, harp, guitar, electronics, dubby beats, smart arrangements and a pounding rhythm section – 9Bach’s songs are captivatingly original, inspirational and emotionally charged. Watch the session video of ‘Wedi Torri’ below:

Diet Cig to Play the H&H on Wednesday 25th May

This Is Tmrw bring New York based two piece, Diet Cig to the Hare & Hounds on Wednesday 25th May.

After beginning as a casual project between Alex Luciano (guitar) and Noah Bowman (drums), Diet Cig have made a big statement out of five highly infectious pop songs. The pair met under rather unusual circumstances: Luciano, desperate for a lighter, interrupted the set of Bowman’s other band, Earl Boykins. No lighter was to be found, but a friendship was sparked and Diet Cig was born. The duo’s February 2015 debut EP, Over Easy, consists of lyrics written by Luciano in her bedroom. While recalling the sound of speedy twee-pop groups like Tiger Trap and All Girl Summer Fun Band, the record explores “the innocence of adolescence and infatuation.” With Bowman’s crashing drum kit offering stationary support, Luciano becomes an onstage tornado as lines between band and audience blur into a massive dance party. Police Dog Hogan Tomorrow Night at the H&H

Tomorrow night we welcome high-energy and eclectic eight-piece Police Dog Hogan to the Hare & Hounds.

The band combine fiddle, banjo, mandolin, brass, drums and guitars with knockout four-part harmonies in an exuberant fusing of country, pop, folk, and rocking urban bluegrass. Their literate and superbly crafted songs veer from the wistful and poetic to flat-out, foot-stomping tales of doomed barbecues, French mustard and falling in love on a Tennessee highway. You could call it Americana, country-folk, folk-pop or even urban bluegrass, but it’s difficult to do justice to the sheer range of styles this band is willing to take on and, if necessary, transform.

Their live shows are exuberant, accomplished, stirring and funny, mixing country-fried heartbreakers, belting anthems and foot-stomping singalongs. They’ve been a firm favourite on the festival circuit since forming in 2009, and have been playing to sell-out crowds across the country in the past year. Check out the video for their single ‘West Country Boy’ below;

Danny Vaughn, Frontman of cult New Jersey Rockers, Tyketto, and Dan Reed, founder and leader of the influential Dan Reed Network, will join forces again on a joint tour which see these two iconic frontmen appear together at the Hare & Hounds on Wednesday 19th May.

This will be an intimate acoustic evening with a difference; instead of each artist performing their full set on a rotational basis, both Dan and Danny will take the stage together for an evening of music and chat, with each artist performing their own songs, joining in with each other, telling joint stories and triggering a setlist based on the flow of conversation. So, it’s guaranteed that no two shows will be the same. Check them our performing the single ‘Holy Diver’ live below;
