Introducing Heller and Farley

On Saturday 22nd June Heller & Farley will be playing the Hare and Hounds courtesy of local promoters and Leftfoot favourites Habit.

Though prominent house DJs and producers individually, London based remixers Terry Farley and Pete Heller enjoyed their greatest notoriety working as a duo. They first surfaced in the early 90’s as part of Andrew Weatherall’s Boys Own collective, making their début with the hugely popular remix of the Farm’s ‘Groovy Train’. They later earned world wide recognition when their mix of M People’s ‘Open Your Heart’ topped Billboard’s club charts in 1995.

This is a very rare opportunity to catch two UK house pioneers in the intimacy of the Hare and Hounds 250 capacity venue. Tickets are moving fast for this with a VERY limited amount of £6 early bird tickets left so make sure you get yours by clicking here.

Introducing: Night Engine

In October 2012, Night Engine uploaded their first track, ‘I’ll Make It Worth Your While’, to Soundcloud. In that same month, they played their debut London show at the Sebright arms. It was a total sell out and prompted Louder Than War to note that ‘Infallibly perfect bands don’t come around every day’ by way of explanation.

Even the Americans seemed to want to be in at the beginning with MTVHive.com declaring ‘This band is pretty awesome’. A single of the week on The Guardian music podcast and the bold assertion that ‘this is a swaggering, sexy hit waiting to happen’ made sure that, if you missed it, Night Engine were very firmly in the ones to watch category for 2013, a fact confirmed when The Guardian ran two pages on them in their Tips for 2013 issue.

Debut single ‘Seventeen’/‘Treat Me Like A Baby’ was released in February 2013 via Demand Vinyl, followed by a string of support slots with Kaiser Chiefs and Electric Guest. Now the band take to the road for their first headline UK tour in June 2013.

“Their sound is a kind of razor-sharp European art-pop – there’s an audibly huge Bowie influence, although you can hear shades of Talking Heads and Idiot-era Iggy Pop about their clipped synth-laden funk” – The Guardian

Andy Cairns (of Therapy?) to play acoustic show!

For the last 20 plus years, singer/guitarist Andy Cairns has helped redefine the global rock scene thanks to his work in Therapy?Opening their account in 1990 with the release of their incendiary first 7” single ‘Meat Abstract,’ the track saw Cairns and Co. lauded by the likes of the late great John Peel and by the time they released their first album, Babyteeth, a year later, they were hailed as a more cerebral, much-welcome alternative to the then cock-rock cluttered musical climate and spear-headed a new wave of music whose impact is still felt to this very day.

Uniting punks, metalheads, indie kids and everyone in-between with their un-pigeonhole-able and unmistakable sound, the Ballyclare, Northern Ireland-born musician has happily straddled multiple genres over the course of 13 studio albums and counting. Inspired by the likes of Captain Beefheart, the RamonesHusker Du and many more, Cairns’s songs have taken him to stages, stadiums and festivals across the world and Therapy? have shared bills with MetallicaOzzy Osbourne, the Rolling Stones and other household names along the way.

This year, Andy looks set to enjoy yet another highlight in his ongoing musical journey and, with the blessing of his band-mates, is about to embark on his first ever solo acoustic tour. Planning to scour every inch of his back catalogue in preparation for the jaunt, Andy also aims to debut some new Therapy? cuts too (we repeat, Therapy? aren’t splitting up).

“I fancied a challenge,” commented Cairns on the upcoming trek. “I’m hoping to take around two to four new songs with me on tour and I’m also going to go through all of the Therapy? albums and see what works in that format. I’m really looking forward to the shows.”
