Just confirmed - The Travelling Band

After their excellent set last October, we are very excited to welcome back The Travelling Band, courtesy of Birmingham Promoters.

A recording project in New York City in 2006 led a collective of like minded souls to record what was to become ‘Under The Pavement’, The Travelling Band’s debut studio album. Released two years later, the record was very well received by the UK media, gaining BBC 6 Music ‘Album of The Day’, BBC Radio 2’s ‘Single of The Week’ and a featured song in the Ian Dury biopic ‘Sex Drugs & Rock n Roll’.

Their second album, ‘Screaming is Something’, released last May, demonstrated a giant leap forward for the band. An album which isn’t quite soul music, isn’t quite folk, isn’t quite pop, country or rock. The Travelling Band are currently in the studio working on their eagerly anticipated third record.

“The Travelling Band’s shimmering blend of cosmic-country-pop, understated psychedelia, vocal harmonies and nu-folk has made them one of the most talked about artists to emerge from the Manchester music scene – “If you consider the term Mancunian Americana to be an oxymoron try listening to The Travelling Band. Brilliant.” – Marc Riley, BBC 6 Music

The Travelling Band play Hare & Hounds (Venue 1) on Thursday 4th October 2012. Tickets go on sale Wed 16th May here.

Because We Still Can...

Martyn Joseph and Stewart Henderson – Because We Still Can – The combination of the Welsh singer and the Liverpool poet has already produced two tours and subsequent live albums, a mash up of the one’s songs and the other’s verses that,  interspersed with humour and chat,  works far better in reality than it sounds on paper. So, after Because We Can and Because We Can… Again, comes Because We Still Can. With this only the second date, there’s no indication as to which of Joseph’s numbers will be featured, but since, over the course of umpteen album, he’s not released a single song that makes you reach for the skip button, whatever he brings will do just fine. This Thursday, 7.30pm.  Hare & Hounds, Kings Heath
