Birmingham Promoters & Metropolis presents: Esben and the Witch / Trophy Wife / (silver) souvenirs have forged a sound that springs forth from minds soaked in influences far and beyond any standard set of musical touchstones. World Unlimited presents: ahab
Folk-flavoured country-rock quartet ahab share a love of American-influenced music but are very accomplished songwriters. ahab’s music has a laid-back swing but with an undercurrent of indie edginess, their impressive repertoire of self-penned material is influenced by Paul Simon, Nick Drake, and Gram Parsons among others.
Birmingham Promoters presents: Harry’s Gym / Bungalows / Rubicava
“Harrys Gym have a presence and sound that could easily leap the Fjords to international note.” – Clash magazine. ‘Like leaves on the ground, but rather snow in the air, swirling and massive, weightless and fragile’ … is the most apt metaphor to describe the angelically haunted voice of Harry’s Gym vocalist Anne-Lise Frokedal. With a liking to Garbage, Blonde Redhead and The Knife, the Norwegian quartet are “wonderfully soaring, dreamlike prog-pop that’s more northern sorrow than Northern Soul – but not too oppressively bleak.” (Guardian, Band Of The Day)…
Thursday
B’ham Promoters & Heavenly Recordings presents: Sea Of Bees / Trevor Moss & Hannah-Lou / James Walbourne – Sea of Bees is the musical project of Julie Ann Bee, or Jules as everyone calls her. She sings, writes the songs, and plays lots of musical instruments. Her debut album “Songs for the Ravens” sounds folky in some places, gauzy and ambient in others and twee as hell in still others, but beautiful throughout, and a potent reminder that emotional virtue is an artist’s most precious commodity.

The Source presents: Tango and Ratty
A Hip Hop DJ since the mid 80’s, Ratty had already earned his reputation as a big name DJ by the early 90’s, playing major events up and down the country and becoming well known for his choppy style of mixing, scratching, and his selection of upfront music. At the same time, Tango (also a Hip Hop DJ and one time DMC competitor) began DJing at venues such as Shelleys in Stoke on Trent and the two soon discovered they shared very similar musical tastes, and struck up a friendship…
