Chromehoof Show postponed.

chromehoofCapsule have just received this explanation from the band.

“Sadly this Chrome Hoof performance has to be postponed as another show that due to take place on the same weekend was cancelled by the promoter. This late cancellation leaves Chrome Hoof unable financially to make the trip. A rescheduled date will be announced soon and they look forward to playing Birmingham in the VERY near future. We offer sincere apologies to those who bought tickets and to Capsule who organised the show”

HOWEVER the Martin Atkins (ex PIL + Killing Joke) talk will still be going ahead this SUNDAY – free event at the Hare & Hounds

Stitches and Hos tonight

Hi everyone. Hope you had a good bank holiday weekend. If you’re looking for something a little different to do tonight – maybe you fancy getting a little crafty – then you could do a lot worse than to pop into our back bar for Stitches and Hos.

Stitches and Hos are a motley crew of enthusiasts for all things knitted, crocheted and stitched who run a monthly knitting night based at Hare and Hounds pub, Kings Heath, Birmingham

They get together on the last Tuesday of every month. No experience is required and everyone is welcome. Entry is free too.

You can delve into more info on the Stitches & Hos blog or on Facebook.

This month they’re having a wool swap:

Bring along all those balls of wool that you’ve done nothing with for months and exchange them for tokens.  Your tokens can then be used to ‘buy’ other wool in the swap.

You don’t just have to bring wool – any knitting, stitching or crochet paraphernalia is welcome. Just make sure that it is in good condition

And finally here’s a pic from their recent outing to New Art Gallery Walsall with the Capsule and 7 Inch guys and gals.

All over the Bank Holiday

Another Bank Holiday? Already? There’s loads of stuff happening at the Hare & Hounds this weekend so lets get into it…

Friday 22 May

BROKEN NOTE bring some filthy dubsteb to room 1, supported by the dirtiest drum and bass and mischievous electronic antics. Promoted by [sic] & Resistor. Tickets and info here.

Substance – The Reunion. Chris Read, Roc 1 and Mad Flow are back in the city and are bringing their bags of hip hop, funk and beats. Substance nights have been running for 12 years now and these guys have played with the best. Check Music of Substance for info about them and if you haven’t grabbed Chris Read’s incredible mixtape ‘The Diary’ then get it from the downloads page.

Saturday 23 May

One big event today because it’s Mr Elephant’s 2nd birthday! It’ll be a 12 hour celebration over 4 rooms and 3 stages –  live, dance and acoustic – as well as a programme of workshops and local stalls wih lots of interactivity for all ages throughout the day.

Sunday 24 May

Leftfoot and Funkbox present two party-starting talents – the Hypnotic Brass Ensemble and Ben Westbeech. If you’ve not heard of the Hypnotic Brass Ensemble before then here’s a hint of what they’re about. Also not to be missed is Ben Westbeech – he tore up the Bulls Head last year so it’s great to have him back for another vocal/DJ set.

The other room hosts the launch of Percy Filth’s EP ‘Elbow Grease’, super-sized to 9 tracks of beats with some top names guesting. SonnyJim, Kosyne, Redbeard and Taharka will be your hosts, with Stig Of The Dump, Dr Syntax, English, EdoubleD, DJ Cro and Weetamix vs Loopskywalker (DJ battle) lining up to please your ears.

Monday 25 May

Maybe just pop in for a quite one.

Are you coming down to anything? Let us know in the comments! Meanwhile here are the flyers for these events:

GAS LAMP KILLER

Everybody recovered?

james-taylor-quartetSo that’s two bank holidays down and two to go!  We had some amazing shows over the bank holiday weekend.  Huge respect to Paul Murphy, Dubmatic, Token Black Kid, Souljazz Orchestra, Crazy P & Futureboogie for some memorable moments. Watch this space for some video highlights and check our facebook group for photographs.

And now on to this week…..

In Venue 1 tonight we’ve got an album launch party for 1 Eye (plus support).  And there’s a roll-over week in the wednesday night quiz so the winners will receive £100.  Space is strictly limited so make sure you’re down early to grab a table.

And then it’s a welcome return for the mighty Dubmatic.  Every show so far has been packed and absolutely rocking so don’t miss out on Birmingham’s finest mid-week dubstep / jungle session.  And don’t forget the White Boy Shit! crew and their darts / guitars hybrid in the back bar from 9pm.

And then on friday we’ve got two great live shows from World Unlimited & Commercially Inviable.  James Taylor Quartet brings his hammond-led funk to Venue 1, and Dorian Wood jets in from the US for a rare set alongside his UK namesake in Venue 2.

And finally, on saturday the Viva Brazil crew are back for a samba party with live drummers, horn section and more whistles than a referees convention.
