Doom metal, disco, acid house and Donna Summer had a car crash on the highway to oblivion. Chrome Hoof emerged from the wreckage, grooving. Somewhere between 10 and 14 members, depending on who turns up. The Heaviest band in the world!

electricwizardshirtdesign0tu

After a short break recovering from our annual festival Supersonic, Capsule are back at the Hare & Hounds, kicking back into full gear with ELECTRIC WIZARD, described by many as the heaviest band in the world!
Crushing doom, a sonic aural trip far, far away from this world, where only cyclopean walls of crackling vintage valve amplifiers set to the full overdrive and primal ritualistic beats can wash away all the filth and drudgery of everyday life.
Their sound is a crushing behemoth of funeral march psychedelia. Violent, bleak and ritualistic, we bow to the black altar of the RIFF.

Joined by Canadian flute-tinged witch rock band, BLOODY CEREMONY – think Jethro Tull meets Sabbath.
Tickets are sure to sell out for this show – so don’t miss out and book now

What’s on this week, including a handful of legends

June 8th, 2009  |  Published in News by Robbie
Tagged: , , , , ,

We’ve got another varied line-up at the Hare and Hounds this week, with a few bona fide legends coming through the door. Here’s what’s coming up:

Wednesday kicks things off with The Drones with their dirty, psychedelic take on Australian rock. Support comes from Snowman and Barge Pole.

On Thursday there’s a tricky choice to be made. On the one hand The Catapult Club have the ever-entertaining Misty’s Big Adventure. Meanwhile, in the other room, Bohemian Jukebox are curating a line-up that includes Banska, Erinn, Get Frank and Rich Batsford.

Friday is all about Andrew Weatherall. I shouldn’t need to tell you any more about a legend of his calibre so I’m not going to. Just make sure you don’t miss out.

On Saturday we’re got two very different nights under the same roof. Capsule are responsible for bringing Aethenor to Birmingham for one of only three exclusive UK shows. Einstellung are supporting, as are a very special guest.

In the other room you can witness the birth of Cinephonic – a new night with a fine pedigree. They’re starting things off right by bringing Quantic along with his future dance floor-orientated grooves, deep funk and tough drums.

There’s no let-up on Sunday, when we’ll be offering a very tasty-looking morsel – a unique collaboration between Stones Throw’s James Pants and latin soul legend Joe Bataan (who will somehow be on his first ever UK tour). Here’s the flyer for that one:

SumoA3_BH-HH_09_01:Layout 1

You can get more information about all of these (including ticket info) on the listings page.

What grabs your fancy? Anything you reckon is unmissable?
