Seeland, Borderville, Dust Motes, Ian Morris
Seeland
The trio create melodic electronic space structures often reminiscent of the music made by Brian Eno and Krautrock pioneers Cluster and Harmonia with an added Beach Boys pop sensibility and a hint of John Maus’ idiosyncratic charm. Using a variety of vintage analogue synths, valve amps and esoteric audio equipment the group go to great lengths to create their transcendental pop nuggets.
Borderville
Channelling the spirits of Kate Bush, Bowie, Brel and even Stephen Sondheim, Borderville re-imagine glam rock with towering walls of sound and ornate flourishes of baroque piano, all imbued with the morbid romanticism of a drunken Rufus Wainwright harbouring an ugly vendetta.
“Already creating a huge wave of hype in and around Oxford, they’re a bunch of ragtag urchins who make raucous, inspiring indie.” – NME
“Borderville could well be on a mission to save music.” – The Fly
“Recalls Sondheim’s bedlam scenes…sounds like a hold-up in a costumier’s” – Oxfordbands.com
Dust Motes
A Dave Wilkie and Dave McCabe collaboration. Wilkie’s sensitive fragility is offset by off-kilter electrics from McCabe, like a welcome wedding gatecrasher at a funeral.
Ian Morris
Britpop inspired acoustics.
