New Show: The Blackbyrds

We’re pleased to announce that AGMP will be bringing The Blackbyrds to the H&H on Sunday 29th November.

The Blackbyrds were formed in 1973 in Washington D.C. as the protegees of Donald Byrd. Their self-titled debut album was released the following year on Fantasy Records and was produced by theMizell Brothers. The album featuredthe rare groove classic “Do it Fluid” written by Donald Byrd.

1975’s follow up LP “Flying Start” featured their first Top 10 single “Walking in Rhythm” which was their first million selling single. “City Life” released the same year featured “Rock Creek Park” and the Top 20 “Happy Music”. After releasing further albums “Action”, “Night Grooves”, “Unfinished Business” and “Better Days” the group disbanded in 1980.

Tom Browne will appear as special guest with the band, famed for his huge hit “Funkin for Jamaica” and club smash “Thighs High”, Tom Browne is a well respected trumpeter and airline pilot.
