Kate singer/songwriter/pianist/guitarist from Harrow, North London, best known for the hit “Foundations”

Growing up in Harrow, London, Nash first became interested in music during her childhood when she learned to play the piano.. She began to write some new songs, finished old ones and decided that she would book herself a gig at a local bar to showcase her songs, and subsequently decided to start a career in music.

Nash’s early live performances saw her play a number of cover versions, including a skiffle reworking of Robbie Williams’ Rudebox and an interpretation of the One Foot In The Grave theme tune. After a few gigs, Nash uploaded her music to the popular website MySpace. Her music soon began to receive support from users of the site, and Nash found herself a manager, proceeding to look for producers for her music…

Glasgow band mixing traditional folk with psychedelia and, in lead singer Lavinia Blackwall, have someone with one of the most sweeping, soaring voices imaginable. New album ‘Abandoned Love’ produced by Stevie Jackson (Belle & Sebastian) is out in April.

Rebekah’s love affair with electronic music began at the tender age of 16, going out and listening to legends such as Dave Clarke, Derrick Carter, Richie Hawtin and Billy Nasty at Birmingham’s legendary Que Club. This gave Rebekah her first taste into the world of deep house and techno.

Fifteen years on and Rebekah’s passion is still burning, she has been lucky enough to recently play at MOS, Fabric, Back to Basics, Public Life, Guendalina Italy,Coolhouse, Shindig, Awakenings and Exit to name a few. Her residency in Birmingham for the Eclectricity events has seen her play for Cocoon parties alongside Sven Vath, Dubfire, Loco Dice and Luciano. Rebekah has also become a regular feature at Global Gathering warming up in the Circo Loco, Cocoon and M-nus Arenas consecutively, the latter being one of the standout sets of 2009.

Anyone that has seen her play out live know first hand that there are no gimmicks or clichés about this DJ…. just unadulterated raw talent and a passion for underground house and techno.

After initially dabbling in Psychadelic Punk, Comic Jazz, Rocksteady, and banana costumes, the band honed their sound and instantly attracted the attention of Adam Briggs, brother of the ornithologist. Adam’s trumpeting can now be heard on our debut single ‘Zorbing’, a song about the extreme sport invented in New Zealand by Andrew Akers and Dwayne van der Sluis. After throwing up, the band instantly attracted the attention of violinist Rahul Satija, who can be heard playing on our song ‘Unfaithful’.

The band’s extracurricular interests include hiking trips, tandem cycling, power-kiting, nature-watching and something called hackisack. None of them have ever been to their Hebridean namesake. But Brian once got to within 37 miles of it.

Mary Anne Hobbs is the award-winning presenter of Radio 1’s  Experimental Show. Her ethos is simple… “My mission remains exactly the same… to bring the finest dark experimental electronic music on earth to you.”

She’s well-renowned for focusing on the more progressive and futuristic elements of dubstep, hip-hop & techno with high-profile guests like Flying Lotus, Gaslamp Killer, Roots Manuva & Skream.

Hey, we are Muchuu There are two of us. Milky and George. We are brother and sister. The name ‘Muchuu’ – pronounced “Moo-chew” – comes from Milky’s love of all things Japanese. It means to be in an ecstatic delirious trance or dream. Milky is the lead singer and lyricist. She writes lyrics about dreams, things she sees on her adventures, imagination and escapism; appreciating the real things, the little things that make you smile!

George is the melody/harmony synth master. He started playing piano when he was seven and likes keyboards and synths. Especially the £29 keyboard he bought, on which you can only play three notes at a time.

We write our own songs, and have been writing and recording music together for nearly two years. We started by using sound effects from objects that we found in our garage, combined with synth sounds and just seeing what happened!

Muchuu are due to release their debut single Somebody Tell Me on the 30th of November and their album Adventure We Go in 2010.

Richard James is the former bass guitarist for the Welsh prog/folk band Gorky’s Zygotic Mynci.

After going into the studio with Iwan ‘Recall’ Morgan, Richard James is set to release a new album this summer.

Born and bred in Carmarthen, West Wales, Richard James formed Gorky’s Zygotic Mynci with schoolmates Euros Childs and John Lawrence while in their mid-teens. He played bass and guitar with Gorky’s as well as writing and co-writing some of the songs. They recorded and released 8 albums and numerous ep‘s and singles, toured the world and split up when it stopped being fun. They are today regarded as one of the main influential bands in the renaissance of  folk/pop psychedelic.

Richard now lives and makes music in Cardiff.  He is also involved in curating the musical side of the Laugharne Weekend festival, a literary and sonic extravagance that takes place each Eastertide in Wales’ strangest township. His latest venture is a monthly multimedia event called in Chapters, taking place in Cardiff’s Chapter Arts Centre and featuring brand new collaborations with a range of Wales’ musical and literary talent.

Richard’s first  solo album The Seven Sleeper’s Den was a slow burn collection of love songs and spacey instrumentals, sung in English and occasionally Welsh, Somebody said it sounded like the Velvet Underground with the ratio of New Yorkers to Welsh people reversed, and they weren’t far wrong.

Where The Seven Sleepers Den was a stripped back affair, new album We Went Riding is a multilayered extravaganza that sees Richard James letting lose his inner pop auteur, and together with long time producer/collaborator Iwan Morgan (aka Recall), it features some of Cardiff’s finest musicians helping to achieve his vision. This album offers clear notice that the exploratory spirit, which always set Gorkys apart from their peers, is still alive and well.

Green’s first release came on Luis’ label, Tru Thoughts, when his track “Terrapin” was included on the compilation “When Shapes Join Together” in 1999. His debut album, “Animal Magic” followed the next year, completely self-produced and largely self-played, too. Hailed as one of the “new downtempo pioneers,” Green found himself attracting the attention of other labels and eventually signed to Ninja Tune.

In 2003 he released his first album for the label, “Dial ‘M’ For Monkey.” This was a time when Green was also focussing heavily on his DJing, playing banging dancefloor sets of hip hop, funk and drum & bass up and down the country and across Europe, a period which reached its apogee with the release of the mix album “Solid Steel: It Came From The Sea.”

“Days To Come” followed in 2006, Green opting for a lusher, more live sound than on his earlier records. To tie in with this musical development, he put together and rehearsed a live band that could bring the music of his records to life. As a result he has moved from selling out the Luminaire to selling out Koko to selling out Kentish Town Forum and the Roundhouse and producing the live DVD to prove it. “Days To Come” also scooped the Gilles Peterson listnerer’s poll for Album of The Year. At the award ceremonies he met the talented UK soul singer Andreya Triana. Not only did the friendship they struck up result in Andreya’s superb contributions to “Black Sands” but Si has produced the whole of her solo debut, coming from Ninja later in the year.

Over the last couple of years, Bonobo has become one of the premier artists on the Ninja Tune imprint and certainly one of the most listened to, with over 16 million plays recorded on LastFM. His combination of superb live shows and studio wizardry means that he is now perfectly placed to push on into a yet bigger league. With “Black Sands,” Bonobo has made the record to achieve

Her debut album for Tru Thoughts ‘Raise the Roof’ in 2008 won fans including Laurent Garnier, Craig Charles (BBC6 Music) and Gilles Peterson (Radio 1). In 2009 Lizzy took her talent in a new direction with an acoustic album ‘This And That’. A collection of totally new and exclusive acoustic material, interspersed with gloriously re-worked acoustic versions of songs from her previous album.

Straight out from a run of gigs including support for The Quantic Soul Orchestra and DJ Vadim, 2010 will see Lizzy hitting the biggest venues & festivals in the UK.
Tonight Lizzy brings her acoustic duo featuring Birmingham based guitarist Tom Robins to play a selection of upbeat songs from her albums.

Following on from our massively successful free party in Jan the Mr Elephant team has decided to do it all over again!

This month we are very pleased to be welcoming DJ Reaction as our special guest. Heading one of the leading drum and bass events in the city aka Break Thru, and of course the man who bought us the infamous underground nightlife newspaper – The Night Times. Ric aka DJ Reaction has supported a wealth of big names, including Goldie, LTJ Bukem, Calibre, High Contrast, and London Elektricity. Expect a journey through lush sun kissed liquid drum and bass all the way through to those massive peak time club bangers. Not to be missed.

Joining Ric as ever will be our residents Skeleton (Trigger/Secret Wars/The Beat Suite) & Dolhasz (The Beat Suite) taking their killa radio show on rhurbarb radio to a live environment with a varied set of beats, breaks and bleeps ranging from danceable funk and hip-hop to glitch-hop, breakbeat and dubstep. Joining us behind the decks, we welcome back one of the UK’s finest talents, SPENCER PARKER. Spencer is fast becoming one of the worlds most in demand DJ/Producers, now based in Berlin, he’s jetting all over the world most weekends playing everywhere from Panorama Bar Berlin, Space Ibiza, Womb in Tokyo, Fabric London and just about everywhere in between. His production are setting the world alight too, with Beatport naming him amongst their rising stars for 2010.

Spencer played at our 2nd birthday at the rainbow last year and dropped an incredible set, it was a very easy decision to get him back for the 3rd birthday!!

Support comes from one of the true rising stars of the Birmingham club scene, ELLIOT CROFT. Initially making a name for his self as a regular DJ at the very popular Sunday party GLAS, Elliot is now a firm favorite amongst the underground house heads too through his weekly residency at the Rainbow’s Saturday night party.. Barry’s Attic are a Birmingham based 4 piece who write music that is like… soooooo in right now. Yes this is 80’s indebted indie-electro with the keyboards (which at times sound to my ears like cast off’s from the old Sega Megadrive Sonic the Hedgehog games) turned up to eleven. The 3 songs on offer here all follow a similar pattern, mid-tempo, clipped disco beats and bass, with harsh keyboard riffs and barely audible vocals.

It’s a bit of a shame the band didn’t spend more time arranging these songs as melodically and lyrically they are actually pretty damn impressive recalling the organic flow of early Bloc Party before they became a bargain basement Nine Inch Nails.

‘The Past Is Just That’ in particular is a real gem with an infectious energy and inventive lyrics (probably the first song in history to rhyme ‘tobasco’ sauce with ‘menopause’). The 2 songs that precede it (‘Dislocation’ and ‘Synergy’) have less going for them and on first listen come across as a little bland. There are some effective vocal harmonies though and both tracks display a relentless energy, they both need work though.

So it’s promising stuff but a little under-thought, these songs could have really used a bit longer in gestation, maybe next time guys!

An electrically amplified focus group plucked from three separate postal districts: B13, B1 (both figurehead Dominic and accredited guitarist Helen rest here) and B38. Is I Cinema first convened last August when percussive consultant Olly was invited to witness Dom and Helen’s songsmithery at a Jewellery Quartered flat. The one stipulation: he must lie with his back to the players on a threadbare couch. Suffice to say, the arrangements were reasonably credible. The sofa not so. Carl (six-stringed aesthetics/tech) and Tan (bass-biased kick drum concierge) both interviewed well and have since turned much of the twee into colourful turbulence.

The name famously stems from an altercation Dom suffered aboard a London tube. Whilst perusing the map of locations, said figurehead was accosted by a suite of bloodthirsty rudes sitting opposite: ‘Oi, blud! What ya lookin at? Is I cinema!?’ Fairly solid witticism we thought.

Key achievement thus far: embarking on an ambitious national spa town tour comprising Royal Leamington, Royal Tunbridge, Droitwich, Epsom and Harrogate.

Myspace is largely obsolete as a social networking hub, so we shan’t put too much flesh on the bones here. That said, dates are recorded and visuals presented. Oh and last of all, music making, or psychophysical skill, requires microclimates conducive to performance, hence the love of zip garages and jaquard patterning. www.craft.se – digital retail at its breathtaking best!

Dan Perry presents shows on Q and Kerrang Radio and when she isn’t busy interviewing the likes of Chrissie Hynde and Florence and The Machine she can be found promoting nights (Miss Perry presents) in and around Birmingham. Danielle is a true ambassador for Birmingham and UK music and has recently become a fully fledged member of Malpas, a Moseley band who are already receiving critical acclaim for their beat-driven chilled out sounds-Dan plays glockenspiel, keys and backing vocals. Miss Perry will be playing some beat driven indie pop to get the party started.

Maxwell 33
Maxwell 33 (previously known as Maxwell 45 before his recent decision to ’slow down a bit’) can be found every Friday at The Yardbird Jazz Rooms in the city centre. Maxwell is famed for his anything goes attitude to music, with a penchant for funk, soul, drum n bass, hip-hop and reggae. Maxwell is simply one of the finest DJs you are going to come across in the UK, regularly playing with The Home Cookin Collective, the DJ sound system that provides the backdrop to legendary funk and hip-hop Moseley band Muchbreak.

Skeleton and Dolhashz:
These guys are currently charging their way through the local dubstep scene as well as presenting a weekly show on Rhubarb Radio at The Custard Factory, Birmingham. These two will be bringing some dubstep and jungle to the floor to finish off the party.

Blendstate Visuals:
Liam D’Authreau is one of the UK’s most sought after VJs, able to adapt to any style and provide awesome visuals for both live and DJ performances. He has worked on Mr Elephant Presents, Project X and is part of the extended Jo Hamilton band. Liam will be making the show complete with soundcscape visuals to accompany tonight’s music. Enjoy!

Raghu Dixit has fast become a shining beacon in the burgeoning Indian independent music scene. Raghu’s debut self-titled album was released in 2008 and went on to become India’s highest selling non-film music release last year – with most of these sales being made at concerts rather than off the shelf.

On March 13^th Raghu will be performing to over 150,000 fans in an open-air concert in his hometown of Bangalore.  Another small landmark in Indian history is that Raghu’s band, The Raghu Dixit Project, is the first and only group to have performed a concert inside an Indian jail. Raghu’s reaction to local press reiterating this feat: “I’ve never been an activist. I’ve never done protest songs. I sing happy songs. I just want to try and make them (inmates) forget where they are, if for only one day”. This humble nature has won the hearts of legions of fans back home helping him become India’s most successful folk fusion artist, for which he has now become recognised.

Despite shying away from the popular sound of Bollywood, Raghu has always managed to capture the hearts and imagination of the population with his direct yet inimitable brand of music. With a towering voice fronting traditional Indian folk music, subtly infused with elements of Western Rock, Arabic, Latino and Reggae textures and rhythms, Raghu’s music transcends borders. Joanne Louise Parker’s was brought up against the harsh, yet beautiful landscape of the Cambridgeshire Fenland, her musical apprenticeship has been rich and varied from classical, through folk and jazz. Joanne’s folk roots blues style observes the spiritual and emotional landscape. Her live EP was recorded after an impromptu visit to a Lestat’s coffee house in San Diego.

Men In General is a 4 piece a cappella band comprising 4 bewildered but affable blokes telling it like it might be. Tim Cranmore joins Jim Howden, Adrian Mealing & Will Tooby of The Singing Sous’Chefs’. ‘musicality and life enriching’ Rod Clements, Lindisfarne

Katy Lied are based around the songwriting and musicianship of guitarist Duncan Hamilton and the clear, emotive vocals of Katie Harnett, Katy Lied are big on classic songwriting values, and come carrying a blast of Americana and roots-rock, all shot through with a pop sensibility, sharp lyrics and radio-friendly hooks to die for.

Grace & the Magic Roots are an acoustic three-piece playing original songs. Their unique style encompasses roots reggae, alt-folk, and gutsy blues, with accompaniment by world scales on mandola and cello; this is a band not to be missed!

He successfully defended his title in June 2007 to become the first beatboxer in UK history to win the national championships twice in a row. In 2009 he won the award for Best Mc/Vocalist at the World renowned breakbeat awards ceremony Breakspoll.

At fifteen, an introduction to drum ‘n’ bass led to his long-standing obsession with music technology. Now, in his live shows, as well as world-class solo human-beatbox, he uses his voice and live synths, driven through cutting-edge sound-mangling technology to create dance-inducing layered rhythms, breath-taking soundscapes, fully produced songs and tunes, often totally improvised and all created entirely from scratch.

Mariam “Manna” Jäntti, a singer-songwriter born in Paris to a Finnish mother and an Algerian father, now based in Helsinki Finland, has released her critically acclaimed album: Songs Of Hope And Desire. Opening band El Lovell - Since forming at the break of 2009, El Lovelle have been kicking up pop dust and covering Birmingham’s skies in neon, with their refreshing, synthetic electronica, trademark sound. With a nod to 80’s influences and a finger firmly on the pulse of 2009’s electronic heartbeat , this trio show an innate ability to craft excitingly catchy, hook laden Electro Synth-Pop.

LaBrassBanda was founded in 2007 and is an ensemble of five from the lake Chiemsee in Upper Bavaria with a three piece brass section, drums and bass. Within the shortest time they gained cult status with their dynamic gigs. From St.Pauli to Moscow, from Siena to London, at Festivals like Roskilde and Rudolstadt.

LaBrassBanda’s goal is not to define Pop in a new way, they create their own new form of Pop. They just feel free to play from their perspective. The stage is wherever LaBrassBanda are – whether at Roskilde Festival, or at Chiemsee’s Reggae Summer, at the Golden Pudel Club in Hamburg or on the hanger of a tractor at a spontaneous trip to the EM semi finals to Vienna. The dominance of guitars was taken aside and replaced with a three piece wind player section, combined with drums and e-bass. And suddenly it was clear that even Bavarian Brass Music has the funky groove of a brass section.

Despite forward-pressing they do have moments of calmness. Not only on stage. The beat is allowed to breathe or to sink into Dub on tracks like “Ofree“ or “VW-Jetta“. While a cow bell is echoing in the background. Or you lean back and look at the sound – “NaNaNa“, “Deyda“ – like a landscape that spreads on top of a hill. The attraction of this special LaBrassBanda sound is the fusion of the contradictory. You can enjoy the club night while you have fun with everything that makes your body move & dance. Still this band will never become a puppet of any scene, never function to any coolness rules. You should not understand this as typical Bavarian stubbornness, you should rather see it as natural development of five musicians, who arranged their sound without following any requirements of the market.

‘This five-piece of three horns, drums, bass and vocals have come up with a killer combination of big riffs, Lalo Schifrin-style arrangements and all-out floor fillers. The influences in the horns flit from tex-mex mariachi in the sassy opening track, tuba-driven ska and, elsewhere, elements of New Orleans, 80s pop, the Balkans and local Bavarian polka are all thrown into the mix with equally good judgement. Forget the Gypsy compilations, the blow-hards and the soundalike orkestars and treat yourself to a pure slice of fuelinjected Süddeutsche funk’  Songlines-London

John Fairhurst’s musical eloquence is borne from a natural skill that very few are honoured to possess. Over years of obsessive dedication to his instrument, the slide guitar blues and psychedelic rock he first fell in love with playing in infancy has opened up to incorporate diverse music.

Having spent the last 3 years touring the world, earning places on well respected international music festivals such as Glastonbury, End of the Road and SXSW as well as playing well over 100 shows a year John Fairhurst is back in Australia touring his debut album ‘Joys of Spring’.

Sridhar and Indian raga, John’s music is a real melting-pot of diverse musical traditions.

Sy started his professional career in 1989, blending hip-hop and acid house and soon earned residencies at the legendary Venus Club & Rave FM (Nottingham). He then went on to headline at all the major raves around the UK.. including Fantazia, Venus, Amnesia and many more….

The Source crew intend to re-create the original vibes from the 1988 – 91 era, when the music sounded fresh and the vibe was all about peace, love and unity. Music policy at this event is strictly bleeps, beats and basslines.

The Hare & Hounds (Kings Heath, Birmingham) has been especially chosen to host this acid house/old skool revivial night. The venue will be decorated with original backdrops and be lit with strobes and lazers to recreate the gritty and intimate atmosphere of the early underground clubs..

Supporting Sy in this mission will be Dj’s Gershwin (Flashback), Glenn Aston (Raindance), Expression (Amnesia), Foo (Retrograde).

Take the idea of the “world’s first completely sampled album” and turn it around by playing the whole thing live.
It’s hard to imagine that it’s now over a decade since DJ Shadow released his classic debut album ‘Endtroducing’ – an album that inspired a generation of DJs and musicians alike, and which still sounds as fresh today as it did back in 1996. ‘Endtroducing’ was a unique piece of work, partly because it made it into the Guinness Book of Records as the ‘First Completely Sampled Album’, but also because of the intricacy with which, using an Akai MPC60 sampler and an early Pro-Tools set-up, DJ Shadow created completely original-sounding compositions. So, despite being made entirely of samples, it’s not an album that could be, or ever has been, played live by a DJ, not even the man himself… until now

The Brute Chorus, comprised of West Country-vicar’s son James Steel (Guitars, Vocals), Cumbria’s Nick Foots (multi-instrumentalist & vocals) and Matthew Day (drums & percussion son of a Quaker morris man) – who both grew up in the shadow of Sellafield – and Dave Ferrett (bass) Essex who came to London from the four corners of the land to pursue their interests at college in Greenwich.

They’ve been combining garage, blues and folk music with a scatology of Biblical stories, nursery rhymes and fairy tales since March. They’ve been taking it to the people with sets at The Secret Garden Party, Danny McNamara’s The Aftershow in Manchester, and a monthly residency at Camden’s infamous Hawley Arms pub and became MySpace front page featured artists along the way. They live together in a flat in Whitechapel formerly inhabited by Bow Wow Wow, so they claim.

The band’s first release was a charming offering of psyched-out garage-folk put out on the Hawley Arms backed Bumpman records. The ltd edition AA side 7″ sold out – and is currently available for download.

Main Support is The Filthy Habits - Born from the bleak winter of 2007 after previous other bands had failed to materialise, Jape, Ryan, Burgle and Gall decided it was time to pool their resources and form a band that would give a two finger salute to the rest of the local Birmingham scene. A band where the emphasis was on one thing and one thing only. Good songs.

Rase - Indie Rock quartet “rase” formed in late 2004. Rase comprises of Dan Greenaway (Vocals / Guitar), Jay Goodison (Vocals / Guitar), Giles Smith (Bass) and Matt Yates (Drums).  Post recording their eponymously titled debut album in 2005 and following a minor line-up change, rase settled on their sound releasing an EP (2008) providing an indication of the bands intent. Armed with new songs, increasing popularity and exciting live shows, rase have released a further EP titled ‘Nothing To Lose”, also the name of their debut single.  “Nothing To Lose” provides 4 tracks produced by Gavin Monahan at The Magic Garden (Editors, The Twang, etc). Expect to see much more of rase in 2010…

Sweet Sweet Lies style is best described as “A crudely drawn mix of folk, bluegrass, and post-punk. they draw reference from such influences as Johnny Cash, Nick Cave, Willie Nelson, Tom Waits and Kurt Weill. When a former rock star faces up to every former rock star’s worst fear – finding a proper job, he goes to work in a self-storage warehouse. He makes new friends who look like Juliette Binoche or perform horrific surgery procedures on themselves.

Then there are the storage customers. Michael Stipe – not the REM singer – and Anne, the wife of the man behind the counter of the most miserable sweetshop in the world. All this and assorted bubblewrap fetishists, wooden statues that come to life at night to play arcade games and a homicidal computer named HAL.

Chris is currently putting the finishing to his second studio album; ‘Matchbox Stand’ due to be released in the summer of 2010. The new disc is something of a departure from Chris’s stripped back debut LP ‘Somewhere Down The Line’ with a full band and string arrangements. Due to a busy recording schedule 2009 has been a quieter gigging year, making the November 30th show a very special gig for Chris and his band, it will be your last chance to see Chris play in Birmingham before the new album is born!

Kassidy – Following on from their debut limited edition release “Night In The Box” on King Tuts Records, Kassidy, the four piece in the shape of Hamish, Barrie, Chris & Lewis are setting out on a UK tour in support of their imminent release “The Rubbergum E.P.” out on February 8th on Vertigo Records.  The E.P. consists of 6 of the bands original recordings made at the Rubbergum studio in Glasgow and is the first introduction proper of their extraordinary brand of music.

Goodnight Lenin -

As the era of past outings ended we ventured into the forest to say goodnight to the pasture of our youth. The following winter was harsh and volatile alas we didn’t dare return to the forest. It eventually passed as did the spring and we woke to the scent of summer resting on our senses. We gathered our thoughts and stepped outside of the darkened room leaving our past triumphs to collect dust. With satchels in tow we climbed the hill which we had once walked to find the path we wished to travel….. As we moved the earth to reveal the red brick we could see that the path was littered with words and notes which we collected and hurled into our satchels as we made a dash for the forest. We entered the grave yard, dragged our instruments from the ground and began to play.

A luminary in jazz electronica, Nils Petter-Molvaer has been releasing music under his own name since 1997. As a composer and trumpet player his style draws from a wide palette including jazz, ambient and house as well as hip-hop, rock and pop music. His latest album, Hamada, takes its name from the Arabian word meaning dead but refers to, in this context, impassable areas of desert. The music is angrier and darker than NPM’s previous work and will be perfectly suited to the intimate atmosphere of the Hare & Hounds. The gig features Stian Westerhus on guitar and Auden Kleive on drums.

The new decade heralds some tantalising news just in from Petrcane, Croatia, as the guys behind the beatific  Garden Festival have just announced their first full European tour, taking in some of the continent’s most vibrant venues and with some of the stars set to grace the two-weekend festival this summer. The tour continues on Fri 26^th Feb with a double whammy in Birmingham, with Crazy P Soundsystem, Bootsy and Adam Regan taking in the Hare and Hounds. With The Revenge also added to the bill expect a night of re edits and collaborations!!

This event is the only date in the Uk where we’ll be joined by Crazy P and Futureboogie so make sure that you come and join in. As with the other dates they’ll be Garden Festival giveaways and we’ll be in attendance with full force to answer any questions that you might have. You’ll find us on the dance floor at the front!

The band are currently a six-piece centered around the atmospheric songs of Lasek and Goreas, whose expansive sound culls from numerous aspects of rock ‘n’ roll history. It is completed by Kevin Laing, Steve Raegele, Nicole Lizee and Richard White.

Their debut album, Volume I, was released in a limited 1000 copies edition in 2003 and later rereleased in October 2007.

Their sophomore album, The Besnard Lakes Are The Dark Horse, was recorded at Lasek’s own Breakglass Studios, with members of fellow canadian bands Stars, The Dears and Godspeed You! Black Emperor/A Silver Mt. Zion making guest appearances.

The Besnard Lakes Are the Dark Horse was on the shortlist for the 2007 Polaris Music Prize.

Wolf People are an English psychedelic rock band based in London, Bedford and North Yorkshire. They formed in 2006 around the release of a very limited CD EP on Sea Records as part of the Lifeboat Series. The EP was Stuart Maconie’s record of the week on his BBC6 show. They have since released two 7” singles on Battered Ornaments Records, they quickly sold out and are since becoming quite sought after.

The band have been embraced by the psych community receiving great praise in Shindig magazine and Terrascope.com amongst others. Influenced by Captain Beefheart, Can, Pentangle, Dungen, Amon Duul II and television, the music is largely blues rock based but incorporates elements of folk, jazz, kraut, and country.

Support comes from local band Mr Bones & The Dreamers ..a giant slab of traditional folk complete with stomping, foot tapping rhythm that bursts with dark energy… Mr Bones And The Dreamers are proof that it is possible to turn the grey streets of the Midlands into something far from dreary and generic if you are brave enough to believe in your ideals and go it alone…

From the beginning on Blueprint records, through the last 10 years Oliver Ho has explored techno and house in its many different styles, ranging from the deep tribal sounds of the “Universal” album on his label Meta, to the dark abstract noises of his Veil album, to the funkier house sounds of his Birdland project. All these ideas and sounds have been distilled down into the current project, Raudive. The sound of raudive takes the percussion of his earlier tribal releases and mutates it into a slower deep minimal sound, fusing the funk of house and the electronics of techno. The debut record on Klang Elektronik, “Audio ep” closely followed by Podium Records “Here” gained attention from dj’s such as Riacrdo Villalobos, Jeff Mills and Richie Hawtin. These initial releases have been followed by the raudive sound evolving with more appearances on Klang, Music Man and Pokerflat. This sound is also reflected in oliver’s dj sets.

First up is Greg Wilson on Sat 30th January, swiftly followed by Radio 1’s Liquid Funk don, Fabio, on Sat 13th February.

Just 6 days later on Fri 19th February, Mr Scruff will be dropping in for one of his trademark marathon sets, and then on Fri 19th March, the one and only Marlena Shaw will be performing 2 shows with her exceptional band.
