This autumn Jazzlines have four gigs that encapsulate the diverse and forward programme that fits so well into the Hare & Hounds venue.
To start this series we have true giants of the British scene in super group Partisans on Thursday 23rd October. Featuring four wonderful British jazz musicians, Julian Siegel on saxophones, Phil Robson on guitar, Thaddeus Kelly on Bass and Gene Calderazzo on drums who are due to release their new album Swamp in September on Whirlwind Recordings. Advanced £12 tickets available here.

Drawing on the sell-out gig with Jose James back in 2013, we are thrilled to be bringing back Jose’s trumpet player Takuya Kuroda on Wednesday 29th October. A new artist on the prestigious Blue Note label, celebrating its 75th anniversary this year, Takuya will be an exciting show with his quintet; expect Afrobeat rhythms alongside funk and soul with significant influences of Lee Morgan and Clifford Brown. Pick up your advanced £12 tickets here.
“No one sounds like Takuya .His writing is soulful, modern, and effortlessly bridges the gap between jazz and soul, and between history and tomorrow.” – Jose James

Another young bright star of the US East Coast scene is pianist Kris Bowers; Takuya Kuroda, Marcus Miller and Aretha Franklin collaborator, on tour here on Monday 17th November to promote his debut record Heroes + Misfits on Concord Jazz. Jazzlines have a focus on supporting musicians at the start of their careers (think Gregory Porter at the Hare & Hounds in 2011) and then continuing to follow and support their work as they develop. We hope the same appliesto Kris Bowers, definitely one to watch out for. Advanced £12 tickets are on sale now, find them here.

As well as supporting US talent Jazzlines spends an increasing amount of effort supporting British talent and for this gig local pianist Andy Bunting will support with his band TROPE.
The final gig of this series is from 2014 Jazzlines Fellow Dan Nicholls with Strobes on Thursday 20th November. Dan is a prolific performer and composer and has recently completed a Fellowship with us developing a new instrument and showcasing at a concert at the CBSO Centre back in April.
