Before Youthmovies and the more danceable Foals came into the spotlight, Great Eskimo Hoax were pioneering the angular math-rock that has influenced a recent wave of British bands. Strangely, despite a very English sound they are quite big in Japan (signed to the Rallye record label).The Birmingham trio unite the Oxford mathrock guitars of Youthmovies with the oddly whimsical synth sounds of Cats In Paris.
A beautifully unique sound, and at the same time they are easy to listen to. The subtle use of effects peddles, and simple guitars (as well as synths and glockenspiels) creating incredibly catchy hooks, melodic vocals (echoed and interspersed with shouty bits) coupled with quaint lyrics (“autumn leaves, fragile as snow”) make for a really compelling sound and a special band.
We are more than a little privileged to be hosting the release of their brand spanking new EP @ the Hare & Hounds.

Making some serious waves in the current reservoir of upcoming Brummy talent, (silver) souvenirs have been pricking ears across the city with fans and promoters alike falling for their highly energetic and engaging live performances.
Adding syths and new, exciting drum patterns to already Tight-knit,duelling guitar work and pounding basslines the Birmingham 5-piece are certainly making a name for themselves as one of the most promising young talents to come out of Birmingham in recent times.
Highly skillfull and much fancied new drummer Chris Porter has added a real element of shambolic flair to the already impressive Math-rock outfit.
With everything in place, souvenirs are set to go from strength to strength this year. CAN’T WAIT, WAIT!

Frontman of much admired local rockers Shana Tova, Geordie blake has been around the Birmingham scene for quite a few years. Previously a member of old school legends the Starries, Geordie is a true Birmingham stalwart tunesmith. We are very excited to have him play a truly rare solo show for us at the Hare & hounds.

HASSELBAINK DJs
Jimmy & Floyd,aptly named collectively as Hasselbaink after Dutch footballing legend Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, have been consistently smashing dancefloors across the city + beyond for the last 2 years. Residents at some of the cities best clubnights including Resurrection + No Hassel @ Face, Hasselbaink’s versatile and extensive tune selection and funtime perogative has got something to get even the stiffest of jackets on the dancefloor.
