Polarbear, Jodi Ann Bickley & More!
A night unlike any other birmingham has seen before.
AND ITS FREE, yes..free!
It started in the back room of a local Birmingham Pub; an MC took the mic and then – boom- POWERCUT. Many of us faced with such a situation would shit ourselves however; this MC took it as his time to shine. He wowed the crowd with his acapella routine, his brilliant lyrical delivery leaving the crowd in awe. In the crowd was Dreadlock Alien, the poet laureate who asked the MC to do a gig for him. The gig turned out to be Glastonbury and Brummie lad done good Polarbear was born.
It’s been five years now and Polarbear hasn’t stopped. Not only has he graced stages from London to Malaysia, he’s collaborated with local artist Goonism to put on the show “If I cover my nose you can’t see me” and is now running his own “one man film” RETURN at Battersea Arts Center for the entirety of March. Basically, he is wicked.
A reunion will be taking place as Dreadlock Alien also takes to the stage!
Host of Radio 4s National Poetry Slam, Former Poet Laureate and All round nice guy! Not to be missed.
And Me, Jodi Ann Bickley will be attempting to host and telling a couple of stories along the way. Since my first ever performance in August 2009 at the Coffee and Cake Festival things have gone mental. Winning the Camden Roundhouse Slam 2009, supporting alphabeat, performing all round London and I’m getting ready to perform at the Camden Crawl 2010. Maaaaaaaad.
Everyone should come, it’s something different and I’m a nice lass – so come and give me a hug. Wicked.
+ Some lovely music TBC.
