Patrick Duff / Keiran Goddard / Dust Motes
In the 90s, Patrick Duff was the front man of Strangelove; the Bristol based alternative band who released three critically-acclaimed albums on Parlophone, and cited by Radiohead as an influence. Post Strangelove, and Duff has travelled the world embarking on a decade of musical journeys, including a collaboration at WOMAD festival with the then 81-year-old veteran African master storyteller and musician Madosini, with whom he lived and worked in South Africa. On returning to the UK, Duff’s first solo album ‘Luxury Problems’, produced by Adrian Utley of Portishead and Alex Lee (Goldfrapp/Placebo/Suede/Strangelove), was released in 2005. Now Duff is back, with a new album ‘The Mad Straight Road’, which features a host of acclaimed musicians, and which Duff describes as “a synthesis of some of the music that has shaped my life”. And alongside this stunning new record of rich textures, Duff’s one-man solo shows are a compelling showcase of his unique song writing talent.
