The Seal Cub Clubbing Club – Cancelled

The Seal Cub Clubbing Club are a five-piece post-punk band from The Wirral, England. With their lyrics covering wildly different subjects, Thom Yorke like mutterings, repetitive instrumental hooks and unconventionaly catchy choruses and melodys, their music is unlike other Merseyside bands The Coral and The Zutons. They are often compared to the likes of The Fall and Radiohead….
The S.C.C.C. combine sonic force and innovation with a knack for surreal pop…
“This pop gem lives around the corner from surreal, but admits it with a cheeky grin that most of us should find hard to resist… confident and punchy, with real identity and drive” (Artrocker)
“The Seal Cub Clubbing Club… have over the last couple of years consistently been one of the most interesting and breathtaking of bands.” (The Fly ****)
They are now gearing up for the release of their anticipated second album in March 2010 and will be focussing on the Summer festival circuit. These dates are their first UK tour dates in nearly a year and ought to draw a fair bit of attention from established fans and intrigued newcomers.
Support comes from local band The skyline - We’re The Skyline. We are from Brum. We make music that you can sing along and sometimes laugh/dance/cry to, and are lucky enough to have shared the stage with the likes of Kano, Wiley, Zane Lowe, Little Man Tate, Underground Heroes, Robots in Disguise and The Troubadours. That was pretty cool.
RADIO 1 Just named us in their top 30 bands to watch out for in 2009. mint.
We also like recording our music, and we’ve just recorded our debut album with Gavin Monaghan, who has of late been key in the careers of Editors, The Twang, Nizlopi and has also sprinkled his magic on the likes of Kings Of Leon, Robert Plant, The Fugees and The Smiths.
We are Mr Cricket, we are pleased to meet you. Take a seat over there and we will get you a dose of highvoltage calamity…… then we might play some music. We have checked the figures and stocks are up for this week, this is a good thing, but not if you are the ones crushed by the stock’s unbearable weight! If we have any reason to speak today it is in inaudible slurs crushed by the the ‘comfy’ lifestyle, we have beg no reason but reason begs us.
Can music represent anything? Can it represent non-plus-ness? We try to say nothing but have all the winks and good charm of the castle jester to question otherwise.
