Xova / Cats And Criminals / Yaz Alexander
Coming out of Birmingham UK the home of such legends as Steel Pulse, UB40, Apache Indian, Pato Banton, Musical Youth and Bitty Mclean they follow in a long and fine tradition in Reggae music taken from the streets of this multi-cultural city.
The differences being that XOVA now fuse in their flavours from the streets of living in an urban city such as Birmingham in this new millenium.
Wayne the singer came from unsigned rock band Farside, while the others are musicans who have played with Pato Banton, Apache Indian, Musical Youth, Mumbai Brass and The Brassketeers.
Xova all met when they played together with Johnny 2 Bad. and decided to write and record there own album when they were asked to perform live on Lithuanian TV after having a minor hit there with a re-recording of the old track My Girl Lollipop.
Xova’s album THE PRESSURES OF LIFE is a story about today life in urban Britian, including tracks about single parents – unjust & unwanted wars, crap goverment, knife crime but also recorded and perfromed in a positive style along with some wicked pop songs for good measure.
An awesome live show that has already seem this Brummie INDI-REGGAE Band play at festivals in Poland, Holland and Belgium
New single R GENERATION about the Afghan and Iraq conflicts is out now on ITunes, remixed by Zoned Out and G-Corp
Reggae/Jazz/Blues/Hip Hop/R&B/Gospel/Soul/Rock/Dub/Indie fusion and experimental ideas. Yaz’s foundation is Roots Rock Reggae/Jazz but she is very open to working with all styles (as long as her voice fits).
Yaz is an experienced solo artist in her own right and has performed at several high profile events both at home as well as Internationally.
Filled with musical passion and energy … laughter … inspiration … fun … love … & reality. Many say “Yaz is a sexy, charismatic performer with a huge sultry voice”! Either way … “she’s on a mission to pursue, create, play & deliver great music to the music loving masses of this world” …
‘Rob, Dyl, Robin, Ross, James and john formed cats and criminals in london in 2007.
Our early demos have received raves from the blogs, bbc radio and the metro.
