Band Of Skulls / Black Fangs / Butterfly Fan The inferno
Band of Skulls, a British trio whose sh*t-kicking, bare-bones brand of gritty rock & roll earned them a spot on the hugely anticipated soundtrack to the next Twilight movie, New Moon.. It consists of Russel Marsden (guitar, vocals), Emma Richardson (bass, vocals), and Matt Hayward (drums), who formed a band after they all met in college.
Initially, they played at night clubs in the greater London area and recorded some demos under the name of Fleeing New York before changing their name to Band of Skulls in November 2008. Their debut album Baby Darling Dollface Honey, distributed by Shangri-La Music, was released exclusively on the iTunes Store on 6 March 2009, followed by a general release on 20 March. The track I Know What I Am was chosen as iTunes’ free Single of the Week to coincide with the digital release.
Good time 50s Rock and Roll, Tittyshakers, Garage Trash, Perceptive Alteration, Classic Heavy Metal, Twisted Literature and Cigarettes.
Black Fangs are Heavy Retro done right, by a bassless power trio. They feel that an Elvis Presley quote describes them best….
‘Rock and Roll music, if you like it, if you feel it, you can’t help but move to it. That’s what happens to me. I can’t help it.’ (Elvis Presley, 1956)
Butterfly Fan The Inferno - a sonic mix of Rock, Ska and a hint of Heavy Metal.
The band first came together in Boston, MA in early 2006 and played its first show in June of that year (on 6/6/6!) They recorded 2 EPs and played around 20 shows in the Northeast. An album was completed in early 2008 with some band members and some studio musicians laying the tracks. A relocation took place to Birmingham in Feb 2008 and a new line-up came together and played it’s first gig at the Bar Academy, August 2008. The band now is Paul Collins, Jase Holgate, John kelly and Tony Wilkinson.
