Cinephonic #3 with Automaton
Back once again, Cinephonic returns after a massive event back in August. Bigups to all that came out and made it so special. Skeleton and Dolhasz absolutely killed it for us, so much so that we’ve installed them as permanent residents! Joining them this time around is the mighty promoter, producer and DJ, Automaton on the decks. Expect a special blend of electronica, hip hop and turntablism. As always Cinephonic is not just about the tunes but big screen visuals too. This month we’re working the theme around hip hop culture. VJ Blendstate will be mashing up, remixed and generally taking liberties with the groundbreaking 80’s classic “Style Wars” and modern classic “Scratch”. Automaton
Automaton is the prodigal love child of 2 of the most major of UK soundsystems. The infamous hip hop event ‘Scratch Club’, and the fabled electronic music event ‘Earko’
He is the promoter and resident DJ at both of these legendary events which have seen him perform alongside such diverse acts as public enemy, aphex twin, qbert, john peel, plaid, scratch perverts, freq nasty and many, many other top acts from the hip hop and electronica genres.
The last 2 vinyl EPs have gained automaton critical acclaim in the states by such artists as tipper, dj shadow, the gaslamp killer, machine drum and bassnectar who have all independently playlisted his tracks released on the uber collectable and ultra reliable satamile records based in san francisco
